Planning Control4 lighting before the walls close

New construction creates an opportunity to plan lighting control and smart-home infrastructure together. The placement of control enclosures, cable routes and future control points needs attention while the framing is accessible.

This project pairs Control4 centralized lighting with a dedicated smart-home prewire. The construction photographs show open lighting enclosures, labeled conductors and bundled cabling routed through the steel framing. They document the infrastructure stage of the installation.

A centralized approach to lighting control

Centralized lighting brings lighting-control equipment into designated enclosures. With the right design, it can support coordinated lighting scenes and a considered wall-control layout throughout the home.

For a new build, those choices should be discussed early with the homeowner, builder and electrical team. Lighting loads, keypad locations and the intended experience in each room all influence the plan. Final features depend on the equipment selected and the completed programming.

Smart-home prewire with room to plan ahead

Prewire is the foundation for the technology a homeowner chooses to install. Planning cable routes and equipment locations before drywall can reduce the need to reopen finished walls later.

For homeowners considering a similar project, the design conversation should cover networking, audio and video, control interfaces and any other systems they want to integrate. The wiring plan should reflect the agreed scope and leave practical access for future service.

Electrical and smart-home teams working together

Genesis Group FL performed the electrical work on this project, while Sentry Audio Video handled the Control4 centralized lighting and smart-home prewire. Coordinating these responsibilities during construction helps align electrical infrastructure with the home’s technology plan.

The photos capture work in progress. Finished controls, final programming and completed-system operation are not shown.
